The US Department of Agriculture's weekly export sales report shows that the total US soybean export sales to China in 2017/18 has decreased by 20.4% compared with the same period of the previous year, and last week was a decrease of 20.2%.
As of June 14, 2018, the US/China (Mainland) soybean export shipments in 2017/18 (starting on September 1st) were 27.281 million tons, down from 34.295 million tons in the same period last year.
During the week, the United States shipped 57,000 tons of soybeans to China (the mainland), which was 68,000 tons a week ago and 132,000 tons two weeks ago.
So far, the number of soybeans in the United States that have been sold to China but not yet shipped in 2017/18 is 1.331 million tons, compared with 1.662 million tons in the same period last year.
So far in 2017/18, the total amount of US soybean sales to China (sales and shipments already shipped) was 28.612 million tons, down 20.4% from 35.956 million tons in the same period last year, and last year was down 20.2%. It was a year-on-year decrease of 20.2% two weeks ago.
The number of soybeans delivered by the United States to China for 2018/19 was 1.458 million tons, which was the same as a week ago.
In the June 2018 supply and demand report, the US Department of Agriculture predicted that China's soybean imports will be 103 million tons in 2018/19 (October to September), and China's soybean imports in 2017/18 will be 97 million tons. The monthly forecast is flat; the 2016/17 Chinese soybean imports are expected to be 93.5 million tons, which is the same as the May forecast.
