Carpet cleaning method

Which cleaning method to use depends on the special needs of the carpet installation. Sometimes more than one type of cleaning system is used in the same place. Therefore, it is particularly important to first evaluate the advantages of each method and then select the method that best suits the unique needs of the carpet. The following is a brief introduction to various cleaning methods. You may also refer to how individual cleaning systems should be mixed using various methods to enhance the cleaning effect:

Wet cleaning (wet cleaning) is the most widely used method for deep cleaning of carpets. How to choose the most effective wet cleaning method? There are many factors to consider, such as the amount of water drawn from the carpet and how long it takes for the cleaned carpet to dry. A variety of wet cleaning methods are described below:

Rotary comb brush cleaning method:
This method has been commonly used many years ago, and the effect depends on the construction of the carpet, the skills of the cleaning staff and the type of detergent. In general, the container containing the cleaning agent is connected to the handle of the rotary washing machine. The cleaning personnel needs to control the flow of the cleaning agent flowing through the rotating brush and control the amount of foam generated on the surface of the carpet. The principle of this cleaning method is to sweep the surface of the fiber of the carpet, loosen the dirt, and use the foam of the detergent to float the dirt particles. After the air is dried, the dirt can be removed by the dust cleaner. However, after the detergent has dried, it must be powdery and not sticky. Otherwise, the dirt will not be absorbed and will remain with the detergent on the carpet.

Rotary comb brush cleaning method (post-wetting cleaning method):
Although this hybrid cleaning method removes detergent, dirt, and moisture from the carpet, it cannot remove detergents and dirt that have penetrated into the hair layer. Similarly, this method does not apply to Cut-pile carpets.

Rotary comb brush cleaning method (after humidification pumping):
If you use a rotary comb brush cleaning method to clean the carpet, you must use a hot water extractor immediately after use to remove dirt and detergent residue. However, this hybrid method tends to make the carpet too wet, causing the carpet to quickly become contaminated, shrink, or produce odors due to bacterial growth. Therefore, it does not apply to Cut-pile carpets.

Hot water extraction - steam cleaning method:
This method, also known as the "steam cleaning method," uses a spray method to spray a cleaning solution (a mixture of water and detergent) onto the carpet, forcing the dirt out. The sprayed solution together with the dirt will be sucked by the vacuum cleaner located near the nozzle. The amount of solution to be used depends on the equipment and the technician's technique. If too much solution is used and there is not enough extraction process, there will be excessive humidity; it will also cause the carpet to shrink, re-contaminate quickly and produce odor. Similarly, it is important to choose a combination of cleaners that will reduce the chance of further contamination.

Although this method of cleaning depends on the quality of the equipment and the skills of the controlling staff, BASF considers this to be one of the best cleaning methods and can be applied to all types of carpets. If hot water extraction cleaning method is used, the amount of detergent (compounded with other methods) can be greatly reduced. With proper care, the problem of over-wetting can be reduced. If it is not necessary to remove all the water from the carpet or if it needs to be air dried, BASF does not recommend using the vacuum cleaner again.
If it is found that the last cleansing left behind a lot of cleaner residue, or need to deal with serious stained carpet, it is recommended to rinse with clean water after cleaning, and finally use a dust collector as much as possible to absorb the water on the carpet.

Wet cleaning method notes:
Wet cleaning is the most commonly used and most durable carpet cleaning method. What is often overlooked in the cleaning process is the step of (air-drying the carpet). If the carpet is not dried or the clean area has not returned to normal, this step is still not complete. So, can this kind of cleaning method effectively remove carpet moisture? Should the staff use outdoor ventilation systems, fans, blowers or dehumidifiers to speed up the drying process? These issues have become the focus of controversy.

Dry Cleaning Dry cleaning is the use of a strong penetration agent or clear dry cleaning agent to remove water and oily dirt, and then sucked away with a vacuum cleaner. In addition, rotary machines can also be used to remove dirt from the hair pads on the cleaner. The three methods of wet cleaning can quickly put the cleaned carpet back into use; however, heavily contaminated carpets require multiple handling and cleaning.
