China's first independent research and development "voluntary carbon emission reduction standards" officially released

On the 19th, at the UN Pavilion of the Shanghai World Expo, Professor Cheng Tianquan, director of the “China Voluntary Carbon Emission Reduction Standards” Council, announced that “China's Voluntary Carbon Emission Reduction Standards” was officially released. This is China's first complete voluntary carbon emission reduction standard system developed independently with reference to international rules. The carbon emission reductions approved and verified by the “China Voluntary Carbon Emission Reduction Standard” will have international authority and be recognized by domestic and foreign markets.

According to reports, the "China Voluntary Carbon Emission Reduction Standard" system jointly initiated and developed by the Shanghai Science and Technology Research Institute and the Shanghai Environmental Energy Exchange includes the articles of association, carbon emission reduction technology standards, carbon trading standards, and registration and verification procedures. The content of regulations, mediation and arbitration rules is a voluntary carbon emission reduction standard system that combines the international situation with China's reality, China's combination of leading and learning from international experience, integration of science and applicability, and the role of government and market. . The "China Voluntary Carbon Emission Reduction Standard" is China's first self-developed standard in the field of carbon emission reduction, indicating that China is fully capable of independently developing "scientific and international high-level carbon emission reduction standards."

Professor Cheng Tianquan said that the establishment of the "China Voluntary Carbon Emission Reduction Standard" system is conducive to China's transformation of its economic development mode and the construction of an ecological civilization; it will help China take the initiative in international negotiations on climate change and increase China's position in the global response to climate change. .
