LCD monitor began to increase prices in the third quarter

Taiwan media reported that news from LCD makers said that due to the depreciation of the euro and the low price drop of LCD panel prices, manufacturers plan to increase prices of LCD TVs and monitors by 7-10% in July or August to maintain both There is profit.

Panel makers said that despite the impact of the European debt crisis, the arrival of the World Cup has kept the European LCD TV market relatively stable, and retailers have also used promotions to clear inventory. In order to compensate for the losses caused by the devaluation of the euro in the past three to four months, liquid crystal product supply chain manufacturers will negotiate pricing issues with their customers in August.

According to news from display makers, the depreciation of the euro exceeded expectations in the first half of the year, which caused their income to decrease by more than 8%.

The manufacturers had previously used the euro as a currency settlement method to reduce losses as much as possible. However, because the depreciation of the euro was so severe that it was difficult for them to control production costs, they hoped that the price increase in the third quarter would make up for past losses.

Last year, the world shipped a total of 160 million LCD monitors, of which 25% were sold to the European market. If demand can pick up in the fourth quarter of this year, European market prices will account for 20% of LCD display shipments this year.

In addition, North American market demand is also lower than previously expected, and this weak demand situation will remain until the end of the third quarter.
