China's first self-developed fuel cell product that surpasses 5000 hours of durability has recently completed life test and vehicle application verification. This product has broken through the bottleneck that restricts the commercial application of fuel cell vehicles in China, and has made significant progress in durability, reliability, and product consistency.
As a core component, the durability and reliability of fuel cell stacks are key issues for the practical application of fuel cell vehicles. According to the technical requirements for the commercialization of fuel cells proposed by the US Department of Energy, the durability of fuel cell stacks must reach 5000 hours. However, the gap between China's fuel cell stacks and foreign engineering levels is significant, and there are large gaps in durability, low reliability levels, and poor product consistency, which seriously restrict the development of commercial applications of fuel cell vehicles in China.
The HYMOD-300 vehicle fuel cell stack module independently designed and developed by Xinyuan Power Co., Ltd., a shareholding company of the Dalian Institute of Chemicals, uses high-stability, high-performance “membrane-based catalyst layer membrane electrode design†and high reliability. The “composite bipolar plate structure†makes the durability and reliability meet the technical requirements of the fuel cell commercialization put forward by the US Department of Energy, and at the same time, it realizes the cold start of the stack at −10° C., and at −40° C.
