Complexation technology was used to solve the problem of iron hydrolysis under neutral conditions. The use of porous ion-conducting membranes to replace traditional ion-exchange membranes solved the problem of increased membrane internal resistance due to iron ion contamination and improved the neutral ions in the membrane. The conductivity improves the performance and stability of neutral zinc-iron flow batteries. The battery has an energy efficiency of more than 86% at a working current density of 40 mA/cm2, and there is no significant degradation in the performance of continuous operation over 100 cycles. The active substance concentration of this system can reach 2M, and its volume energy density can reach 56Wh/L. More importantly, compared with other flow battery systems, the system has a lower cost (<400RMB/kWh) and shows a good application prospect. This work has important guiding significance for the research and development of a new generation of flow batteries.
