Living Ink Launches Time-Dependent Eco-friendly Ink Based on Algae

According to foreign media reports, a group of researchers used the characteristics of algae to implement a method to replace the traditional petroleum-based ink. This new pigment can be completely presented on paper in a few days.

The inventor Living Ink Technologies of Colorado, USA, is currently launching a crowdfunding campaign for this creative product at Kickstarter. This "delayed ink" is expected to become a reality and appear in the hands of children and teachers.

This patent-pending technology mainly uses active algae cells and water, which can be drawn by a brush or a printer to print on paper. The handwriting is visible at first so that the creator knows what it looks like and then disappears within minutes.

Once the work is completed, it will be sent to a portable greenhouse for storage. Algae cells will be completed after about one or a few days by providing appropriate temperature and nutrients, plus reading lights or sunlight. Growth, paintings are also successfully presented.

Ink is divided into two types, one that initially appears pink and then it will grow quickly, while the blue one will be slower.

The company stated that this creative ink has won the US Department of Energy’s Clean Energy Entrepreneurship Plan category, which is absolutely safe and especially suitable for children.

Early supporters can purchase a full set of products at Kickstarter for $30. If all goes well, the product will ship in May 2016.
