Denso and NTT DoCoMo announced on February 22, 2016 that in order to implement advanced driver assistance and autopilot technology, they will jointly develop vehicle control systems using LTE and 5G mobile communications (5G).
Denso is developing V2I (vehicle-to-infrastructure) communication technology that connects automotive and signal lighting and other infrastructures, V2V (vehicle-to-vehicle) communication technology that connects vehicles, and evaluation of vehicle control technology using communications. And experiments, development of related on-board equipment and so on. NTT DoCoMo uses LTE and 5G vehicle communication technologies to develop communications that connect vehicles and everything including cars and pedestrians.
The goal of this cooperation is to integrate the vehicle control technology of Denso with DoCoMo's vehicle communication experience, and to use advanced driver assistance and autopilot technology for vehicle control technology using LTE and 5G. Specifically, simulation evaluation and real-vehicle experiments will be considered on the premise that they are used for convergence of highways and urban intersections with poor predictability.
