Yamagata University Develops Low-Voltage Driven Blue Phosphorescent Materials

Professor Yamato University's Graduate School of Graduate School of Science and Engineering, Department of Science and Engineering of Organic Devices Engineering Professor Toshio Hiroto and Associate Prof. J. Kojima's Research Office (Hiroo Hiroshi) developed an external quantum efficiency of up to 30% and was able to achieve 2.5V. On-voltage driven blue phosphorescent luminescent material. The related papers have been published in the academic journal "Advanced Materials" published on June 27th, 2014.

According to reports, the new material has a peak wavelength of 474 nm (band gap of 2.62 eV). Moreover, the attenuation of the quantum efficiency in the high luminance region, that is, the roll-off value is also small. The external quantum efficiency of 30% is achieved at a luminance of around 100 cd/m2, but at a high luminance of 10,000 cd/m2, the external quantum efficiency can still maintain a level of 20%.
