Global plastic pipe demand increases year by year

According to a new report from Freedonia, global plastic pipe demand will increase by 8.5% per year, and by 2017, the rebound in demand in the US market will stimulate.

In 2007 and 2012, global demand increased by only 2.4%.

The recovery of the construction market in the United States will boost the average annual growth of US demand by 9.8%, compared to 2017, a decrease of 7.1% between 2007 and 2012. Similarly, demand in Western Europe has decreased, and in the past six years, it will see demand growth of 5% by 2017.

Asia will see demand increase by 9.7%, and fall slightly from 11% in 2007 and 2012.

Demand for plastic pipes will also be boosted as replacements of other materials tend to be applied to copper, concrete or steel, plastic pipes.

PVC resin is the most common used for pipelines, accounting for more than 55% of demand in 2012. However, the market share of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) from PVC Freedonia says it is moving forward in many building applications.

Fiberglass - used in previous pipes because of its prohibitively high price limits - may prove water's application because its performance advantage is more popular.
