German natural gas will increase prices by an average of 10% to 11%

According to the German "Frankfurters" report on September 27th: Many families will usher in a high-cost heating season. The long-term stability of natural gas prices has increased significantly in recent weeks. The price of fuel oil in September once again approached the highest level in 2008. After a statutory six-week preparation phase, one-third of gas suppliers announced their natural gas price increases to their customers in October or November. Consumer portal Check24 und Verivox reported that gas prices will increase by an average of 10% to 11%.

Over 2 million houses and apartments in Germany use natural gas for heating. About 10% of natural gas price increase For a family of four with a natural gas consumption of 20,000 kWh per year, an additional 126 Euro will be spent on average.

Compared with the historical record of natural gas prices in 2009, which was 8 cents per kilowatt-hour, domestic gas prices also fell by 25% during the economic crisis, and then remained stable for a long time. Since the beginning of 2011, more than 500 basic suppliers have once again raised natural gas prices. By mid-year, the degree of price increase was still relatively moderate, averaging about 5%. However, since July, the price increase has risen faster.

The price of liquid fuel is far more than last year's level. It is estimated that the price of 85 cents per litre of liquid fuel in the first half of September increased by 50% compared with the same period of last year. So far, the price of fuel is only twice higher than this record: this spring and May to August 2008. In the second half of the financial market crisis in 2008, the price of oil plummeted. There is no clear indication this year that there will be a similar decline in fuel prices.

Although the price increase has been completed and announced, the current situation of consumers is relatively favorable. The basic supplier's natural gas price will not change for at least six months. In addition, the two major energy suppliers, RWE and Eon, have just announced that their electricity and natural gas prices will remain stable until at least 2012.
