The proportion of Guangdong shoe exports to the Latin American market has increased

According to the statistics released by Guangzhou Customs on the 2nd, the export of Guangdong shoes from January to May 2010 has increased by 26% over the same period of last year, and a total of 1.73 billion pairs of shoes have been exported. This was mainly due to the recovery of the Latin American economy and the completion of the China-ASEAN free trade zone, which provided a contributing factor to the expansion of shoe exports in Guangdong Province. However, in the European and American markets, the proportion of its exports showed a downward trend.

Since October 2009, the export volume of Guangdong shoes has shown an increasing trend compared to the same period of last year. Besides February, the monthly growth rate has maintained a double-digit growth year-on-year, and the growth rate has further expanded in May. The export volume is 400 million pairs, an increase of 56%, and it is a month-on-month increase. 13%, the highest monthly export volume since 2009.

The data shows that Guangdong shoes exported 380 million U.S. dollars and 280 million U.S. dollars to ASEAN and Latin America, respectively, an increase of 70% and 49%, respectively. Exports to the two regions mainly consist of low-price plastic shoes, which accounted for 87% of Guangdong shoes' exports to ASEAN during the same period and 77% of Guangdong's exports to Latin America during the same period.

During the same period, the growth rate in the traditional markets in Europe and America decreased significantly. From January to May, the export of Guangdong shoes to the traditional markets of the United States and the European Union increased by 9.9% and 9.8%, respectively, which were lower than the overall increase in Guangdong shoe exports during the same period. The two markets accounted for 59% of the total value of Guangdong's footwear exports during the same period, a decrease of 2.4 percentage points from the same period last year.
