According to Solarbuzz data, the European Commission’s preliminary tax rate for anti-dumping duties on solar energy products manufactured in mainland China from June 6th to August 6th is 11.8%, but there are various uncertainties in the results of the negotiations. In terms of price ratios, whether it can reach a negotiating level of 0.57 euros per watt on the basis of product prices will create new opportunities for Taiwan’s solar companies to gain market share.
Li Wenqin, Director of Research and Development Technology Development Department of TSMC, stated that TSMC Solar has the parent company’s cash support of US$5.1 billion in hands. Apart from the support of rich dads, it is necessary to make continuous efforts through the technical side of the company to inherit the tradition of the parent company. While specializing in manufacturing and moving toward long-term production, it does not rule out cutting through the strategic cooperation into the system.
He said that the TSMC CIGS module has been transformed from established low-efficiency and high-cost to high-efficiency and low-cost technology, and the target conversion efficiency is expected to be 17% of the single-chip efficiency in the 2014 production line; the factory's mass production efficiency is 16%, compared to the single crystal module. The group has a competitive advantage. Now 1656mmX656mm can achieve an average of 145-155W, and the target in 2014 is to reach 160-175W to 185W and exceed the polycrystalline module 2-3%.
The increase in efficiency and heat failure alone will increase the output of TSMC by 50%, and TSMC will prepare for the next expansion of production. It is looking for Asian companies to develop and reduce costs.
TSMC Taiwan's Zhongke plant site is close to the parent company plant and has 90% of high automation production; in the past, the company started construction in September 2010, and after every other year's output obtained UL, IEC and Golden Sun certification, every 5 Monthly full-size efficiency of 14.2% was achieved, with an average production line efficiency of 13%.
On January 31 this year, TSMC Solar announced that Taichung Power Plant has successfully developed a one-time CIGS module with a conversion efficiency of up to 15.1%. The CIGS module was announced on June 18, less than five months later. The conversion efficiency reached 15.7%; TSMC emphasized that the company has significantly surpassed the 14.6% level issued by solar frontier.
